Metal Fabricator/Designer for a green design/build company
Fabricated and designed architectural metal work for a spec project, a five-unit condominium. Components included handrails, stairs and gates and salvaged car parts. Much of the project uses green or recycled materials including aluminum street signs for exterior cladding, shredded newspaper insulation, crushed glass bottle counter tops and energy efficient appliances.

Design/build work of a used thirty foot diameter vegetable oil tank and converting it into solar powered, sculptural public restrooms and gardener storage area for the India Basin Park, Hunters Point, San Francisco, CA. Developed and submitted drawings, ADA requirements, and structural specs to the Building Department. Project client: The Trust for Public Land

NEW YORK PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2001-2003: Mosaic Metals Brooklyn, NY
Owner and Manager of Design/Build Metal Fabrication Shop
Built and designed residential and commercial work. Manhattan projects include: Noa: Bar/lounge with cantilevering glass facade using custom-designed cable weight systems A La Nave Va: Italian restaurant with hinging and pivoting glass and steel storefront and bar constructed of steel and recycled warehouse beams of old yellow pine.

Produced engineering drawing sets for tensile fabric and steel structures, cable net systems, and grid shells. Projects included several outdoor amphitheaters such as Summer Stage, Central Park, NY a shopping center in Menlyn Park, South Africa, custom military tents and Shigeru Ban's recycled cardboard tube grid shell at MOMA, New York. Integrated membrane photovoltaics were experimented in some of the fabric structures

Designer, Fabricator, Carpenter and Installer
Designed and built steel furniture and transformable structures. Projects include Polo Ralph Lauren furniture and interiors, a rotating bar and partitions at Cafe Aubette, New York, NY and an addition to an elevated steel frame vacation residence in Belize, Central America. The addition was constructed entirely out of indigenous certified Santa Maria and mahogany hardwood lumber.

INTERNSHIPS
1997-98: Mison Concepts, Inc. Mineola, NY
Intern Estimator and Project Manager
Drafted details, priced and researched components and metal materials for sculpture, modern furniture and installations. Research included stainless steel wire weave, mu metals, Birdair cables, castings and tool/dye facilities.

1996-97: Kortchmar Boat building. Greenport, NY
Wooden Boat Building and Restoration Apprentice
Lofted (drafted at full scale) and constructed a 42' tunnel driven motor cruiser with a strip-plank hull and a fiberglass finish. Keel, transom and stern were constructed out of recycled warehouse beams of old yellow pine.

SKILLS
Shop: TIG (stainless, mild steel, aluminum), MIG and Stick welding cold saw, plasma-cutter, band saw, air compressor tools, lathe, milling machine and most shop machinery use, jig set-up and production traditional steel finishes, hardware and installation procedures. Oxy-acetylene torch certified.

Office: Software: 2D AutoCAD 2000, TENSYL (fabric structures form-finding software), Photoshop, Quark, AutoCAD 3D renderings Mac VectorWorks. Architecture and Engineering drawing set literate with material estimating skills.

Skin: Surface, Substance and Design Exhibition and Publication Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, New York, NY, Fall 2002, Princeton Architectural Press. Designed a 12-story deployable fabric tower with FTL Happold.
Sun Wall: US Department of Energy Solar Design Competition Washington D.C. Fall 2001 DOE building Solar Wall design entry with FTL Happold. Supported by a steel and cable structure, large parabolic lenses collect solar energy during the day, provide additional electricity for the building and act as a kinetic sculpture at night.
